Heat Wave by Richard Castle

Image
Shock, heartbreak, outrage, I’m not actually talking about this book. My dismay is in regard to the cancellation of my favorite show, Castle. No more Beckett, Ryan, and Esposito. It’s the end of hilarious hijinks and sharp crime solving techniques of my favorite NYPD detectives and the always controversial Castle. Fortunately, the universe has seen fit to pre-empt this tragic turn of events with the creation of the Nikki Heat series written by none other than, you guessed it, Richard Castle.

In the first of the Nikki Heat series, Heat Wave, we find Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Jameson Rook and NYPD Homicide Detective Nikki Heat reluctantly thrown together to unravel the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of one of New York's elite. Can Heat and Rook solve this riddle as the city is plagued by a sweltering heat wave?

If you've never had the pleasure of riding alongside Castle and Beckett in the TV series, no worries, the Nikki Heat series is a stand alone anthology. This is a perfect, easy summer read. Sit back with a margarita, in your beach chair, and enjoy!
